Looking to get out to the mountains this summer? Discover Kananaskis, just minutes (well ok, 45 minutes) from our front door! Kananaskis, the lesser known mountain playground near Calgary, is West of the city and about 30 minutes from Banff National Park. Kananaskis includes five provincial parks, four wildland provincial parks, one ecological reserve and several provincial recreation areas- plenty to see and do!

If you find yourself looking for something to do out there this summer, here are some ideas to get your started:

  • Feel like you are on top of the world, climbing up Centennial Ridge/Mount Allen, and enjoy views of both Canmore and Calgary
  • Relax with a cold beer on the patio at the Delta Hotel in Kananaskis Village
  • Windsurf on Barrier Lake
  • Picnic at Ribbon Creek
  • Take the kids on a hike to Troll Falls
  • Bike to Ribbon Falls
  • Hike around upper Kananaskis Lake

Go up the grueling 1km to Elbow Lake and enjoy a day lounging by the water
